LABORERS: must be able to perform duties including, but not limited to the following:

  • Must be able to work at heights up to approximately 25 meters (depending on the system) while using proper fall protection equipment and technique
  • Assist with unloading steel and other components off flatbeds and closed containers and stage in building or outside yard
  • Assist with bringing steel components into building through dock doors or ramps in the case of outside staging using forklifts and other heavy machinery
  • Assist with reading blueprints and laying out rack system per specifications of rack manufacturer
  • Assist with the erection, assembly and installation of steel in the material handling industry (various types of steel rack and shelving, which include components such as uprights, beams, pallet supports, tracks, carts, rollers, wood, wire decks, shelves, etc.)
  • Assist with plumbing erected steel vertically and horizontally by way of leveling with shims, grout, or other means per specification of rack manufacturer
  • Assist with anchoring and tightening system using power tools
  • Assist with quality control and examining the system to check for defects in installation or non-compliance with specifications of rack manufacturer
  • Experience a plus, but training is available
  • Forklift operator license a plus, but training is available
  • Willingness to travel preferred as our crews usually travel from one job to another which can be in varied locations, but site specific opportunities are available

SUPERVISORS: must be able to perform duties and meet requirements including, but not limited to the following.

  • Must have a minimum of three years experience supervising and running rack installation crew
  • Must be able to read blueprints and layout system according to rack manufacturer specifications
  • Must be able to coordinate and instruct laborers on the various tasks associated with the installation of a given system, including erection, anchoring, leveling, tightening, etc.
  • Must be able to coordinate work tasks and schedule with other trades on site
  • Must be able to communicate and coordinate with the end-user customer on site, as well as with representatives of the rack manufacturer, sometimes acting as liaison between the two
  • Must be responsible for keeping accurate inventory on materials and supplies, and when needed, ordering and requisitioning such materials and supplies in a timely manner
  • Must insure safe work practices and standards are being upheld on site
  • Must be responsible for holding weekly safety meetings and submitting proper paperwork for such according to company policy
  • Must be responsible for recommendations on personnel hiring, firing, promoting, salary raises, etc.
  • Must be responsible for administering and submitting payroll reports
  • Must be responsible for actively tracking job costs and budgets in close coordination with the project manager to insure timely and costly completion of the job (including payroll, equipment and hotel costs)
  • Must be responsible for aiding in the coordination and administration of crew member accommodations (hotel, apartment, etc.)
  • Willingness to travel a must
